Speed Record on Ice
At Petrol Industries, we refuse to remain stagnant, and we have an unwavering desire to push the limits. Just like our partners at RGNT Motorcycles, we believe in pushing boundaries and surpassing expectations. That's why being part of breaking the World Speed Record on ice is an unforgettable milestone for us. In the winter of 2023, we started a collaboration with RGNT Motorcycles. There we witnessed the RGNT Aurora making history when it shattered the current World Speed Record on ice with an electric motorcycle. During the SMA Svenska Motorsport Alliansen Speed Weekend in Årsunda, Sweden, RGNT-engineer Timmy Eriksson achieved a resounding success in his quest to beat the record.
The Team
Aurora, the ambitious RGNT Ice Racer project, was initiated by a small group of passionate RGNT employees staying up late into the evening and dedicating their weekends to the cause. The team wanted the bike to not only perform to its highest potential but also exude a sense of style and power. As the magnitude and ambition level of the project grew, it was eventually backed up by the entire 40-employee company.
The model
The record-setting motorcycle is an A1-certified RGNT No. 1 Classic SE production model, modified in several ways to maximize power output. The software and power output of the drivetrain has been unlocked, resulting in a sleek EV racer with a peak power of close to 30 kW (standard 21 kW). Based on several concept studies for a future RGNT racer model, a full aerodynamic lightweight fairing has been designed and built in-house, with an HMI race screen. The race-ready bike weighs just under 160 kg and rolls on spike- studded tires – ready to take on any icy terrain.
Together with RGNT Motorcycles, we strive to make a positive impact, but this time with a lighter footprint on the planet. Every season, we actively seek ways to enhance the sustainability of our collection, not only in terms of our clothing production but also in our collaborations. Jointly, we are exploring pathways towards a cleaner future, aiming to inspire those around us.
